So You Think You Can Write?

-

Do you have a grandparent or a parent with an intriguing story about the city of Wheeling or another community in the Upper Ohio Valley? Know of an student/athlete robbed of playing time because of the pandemic? Have you moved away from the valley and want to compose a story of memories about where you grew up? Did you live close to the former W.Va. Penitentiary in Moundsville when riots took place inside the prison?

The publishers of LEDE News would like to invite writers to submit queries for future stories that concern the Upper Ohio Valley region and its people, current issues, and the history of the area.

LEDE News features several story categories, including News, People, Features, Community, Spports, Events, Travel, Food, Fun, Live Music, History, Culture, and Free Speech. Our mission is to offer readers worldwide stories that originate here at home that are not usual topics covered by our media outlets in the Wheeling area.

There is compensation involved for accepted story ideas, but those wishing to contribute should understand that photos need to be included, as well. If that is not possible, the writer would need to communicate their vision for such art so a staff member of LEDE News can supply photos for such pieces. The amount of compensation will depend on the topic, length of article, and the experience of the writer.

Those wishing to submit queries should do so by emailing steve.novotney@ledenews.com. Please include your phone number and address when transmitting submissions.
