Why Not Get Tested?

So, you traveled during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend because you couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing your loved ones. Understandable, really, because of traditions and the help you provide with the preparation of the annual feast and home maintenance.

But now, why not get tested for COVID-19?

If you were infected during the long weekend, it’s most likely you remain asymptomatic today and could be spreading it to friends and co-workers. That’s the reality of this virus, and that’s how most folks are getting infected these days. People feel healthy, they socialize with others who have no reason to suspect you’re a spreader, and then they do the same until the symptoms set in.

A fever and chills. Coughing and congestion issues. Sore throat. Runny nose. Diarrhea and vomiting. If your face and lips begin to turn blue, go to the emergency room.

So why not get tested?

It’s free, and very available at four locations in Ohio County and at the Marshall County Health Department in Moundsville. Uncomfortable, yes, but certainly not the worst thing you’ll experience in your lifetime when it comes to whether or not you’re going to die.

The counties’ offers are not limited to travelers, though, so if even you think you might have been exposed, a test is the best idea. That way you will know, and you can still do stuff while awaiting results if you wear a mask and are diligent about keeping your distance if you choose to go in a public place. If you cannot do that, stay away.

The test is free and readily available, so why not go get tested if you think there is a chance?

You could save a life.
