Barons Duo Earn PAC Laurels

After the long awaited first week of Men’s Basketball, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference announced their weekly award winners today. Sean Hickey was named Player of the Week, and Tristan McDannell earned Rookie of the Week. The Barons earned their first win as a member of the PAC, in their season opener at Bethany on Saturday defeating the Bison 100-88. 

Sean Hickey picked up right where he left off last season as he scored 23 points at Bethany. Hickey started out slow, but kept working hard, as he scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half. Hickey had a strong day in the Franciscan press as he had three steals which helped spark a huge second half for Franciscan. The senior guard added five rebounds and three assists as well. Hickey moved to 18th all-time at Franciscan with 997 career points.

Tristan McDannell made an immediate impact in his first ever college contest. McDannell seven points in 18 minutes of play while coming off the bench for Coach Joe Wallace on Saturday. McDannell recorded a team high four steals, as he helped spark the second half run that propelled the Barons to the victory. The freshman also notched four rebounds and three assists to fill in the box score.
