Wheeling Symphony Orchestra (WSO) announces the second concert of its special series, The Elizabeth Stifel Kline Foundation presents SoundBites Vol. III: Love Notes. The event will be held at the Glessner Ballroom on February 13, 2022 with brunch and dinner performances at 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm respectively.
The second concert of the WSO’s 2021-22 SoundBites series, titled “Love Notes,” will take place at Oglebay’s Glessner Ballroom on Sunday February 13, 2022 with a brunch performance at 12:30 pm and a dinner performance at 4:30 pm. The WSO will be conducted by Maestro John Devlin and perform a program of romantic and upbeat songs inspired by the Valentine holiday. Audience members will enjoy selections from Cole Porter and George Gershwin as well as pieces from the opera Carmen and the musical My Fair Lady. The music will be paired with an enticing Valentine’s Day meal prepared by Mirko Loeffler, Executive Chef of Oglebay Resort.
“Our February SoundBites concert is naturally centered around the theme of love,” says Music Director John Devlin. “There are so many wonderful musical interpretations of the emotion that our program will be quite varied. We will play pieces from Strauss and Mahler alongside favorites from Gershwin and Cole Porter.”
Bryan Braunlich, the WSO’s Executive Director, looks forward to returning to Oglebay Resort for this installment of the SoundBitesSeries. “SoundBites originated at Oglebay during our 2020-21 season, and the resort became our temporary home for a number of performances during the pandemic,” says Braunlich. “We are eager to work with Chef Loeffler for the first time and introduce him to our WSO patrons.”
The “Love Notes” brunch menu will begin with a Kir Royale Cocktail and Winter Spinach Salad with Pomegranate Orange Quinoa and Lemon Yogurt Dressing and a main course of Airline Chicken Breast with Roasted Tomato Couscous and Vegetable Pearls. For dinner, the main course will be Slow Braised Beef Short Rib with Roasted Tomato and Goat Cheese Polenta and Parmesan Spinach. Both brunch and dinner will finish with a Trio of Petite Sweets – Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Macaroon and Chocolate Truffle.
