UPDATED: Wheeling Police Release Additional Information on Wheeling Island Homicide

UPDATED INFORMATION:

Earlier this morning, Wheeling Police filed murder charges against 36-year-old Jermaine Justin Copeland in connection to the murder of 47-year-old Shirley Ann Wolfe.

Police were dispatched to 107 Ohio Street on Wheeling Island, where the suspect and victim lived together, around 9:15 p.m. after a 911 call was made coming from the address.

Copeland was taken to the Northern Regional Jail pending an initial court arraignment. The victim’s body has been taken to the West Virginia Medical Examiners Officer for an autopsy.

The Wheeling Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place Wednesday evening inside a residence on Wheeling Island.

Police were dispatched to 107 Ohio Street around 9:15 p.m. after a 911 call was made coming from the address.

When officers arrived, they found a female inside deceased.

A male suspect was detained nearby as officers were responding and currently is in police custody.

Detectives remained at the residence processing the crime scene and collecting evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
