Coach Depew:
We’re willing to bet the fact last night’s 28-27 victory over Steubenville has been most often referred to as an “upset” bothers you a bit even though you and your Cadets were not expected to come close to winning.
But you did, now didn’t you, and now your issue with the win being labeled an “upset,” we’re guessing, is because you believe deep in your heart that your team’s victory was not a fluke at all. Instead, it was earned after four quarters of hard-fought, back-and-forth football between two very similar teams.
Congratulations to you, your players and their parents, and to the Linsly community. Big Red football is the standard when it comes to the game on the high school level here in the Upper Ohio Valley so take time to savor this one during the bye week.
And then, go play Dover in a couple of weeks, you gluttons.
Sincerely,
Linsly Alums
