2nd Annual Logan’s Legacy Blood Drive Set For May 11th

-

Youth Services System, Inc. (YSS) and the Logan’s Legacy Cancer Foundation are once again teaming up to host a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, May 11th from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the YSS Hazel Atlas Building located at 87 15th St. in East Wheeling.

The drive is In Memory of Logan Fluharty, a local youth who passed away in 2021 from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Logan’s mother Tanya Duncan is a Residential Manager at the Tuel Center, a part of the YSS Transitional Living Program for youth ages 17-21.

Last year’s inaugural drive had a terrific turnout, collecting enough blood donations to potentially save up to 102 lives. This year, Tanya and YSS hope for more of the same.

“Mother Teresa said, ‘Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.’ Giving blood in memory of Logan is a small thing that will bring great love to someone in need,” said Duncan.

“I am honored to continue to share his journey and bring awareness to not only childhood cancer, but the need for blood donations everywhere.”

Interested community members may sign up to give blood for this drive by visiting https://www.redcrossblood.org and entering “Logan” or “26003” into the search bar and scrolling down to the May 11th Hazel Atlas Building listing. Tanya can also register people, and can be reached at tduncan@ysswv.com or 304-830-4828.
