Just quit repeating it if you don’t know for sure, and let’s face it, you don’t know if President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease let alone some form of dementia.

So, just stop proclaiming it like you do know because each time you’re insulting millions of Americans – and their families – who are managing the care of a loved one who’s losing the battle a little more each and every day.

Now, what we do know is that President Joe Biden is experiencing severe symptoms of cognitive decline, a condition that affects one’s ability to think clearly and to speak with reason and certainty. The decline in a person’s cognition is a natural process and the average age for impact is 70, but the process of deterioration affects each person differently.

For most individuals later in life, there are good days and there are bad days.

Because President Biden has been in the nation’s political spotlight for nearly 50 years, there’s plenty of video evidence that reveals his weakening communication skills, and he himself has admitted to having a “bad night” because of a “terrible cold,” and “international travel.” He blamed his poor debate performance on his health, but also because his opponent distracted him.

Really? If former president Donald J. Trump is so distracting, what is Russia’s war in Ukraine, Israel’s war against Hamas, and China’s military build-up all at once? Surely those real-world situations are more alarming than a mouthy New Yorker with a muted microphone, right?

Since the debate, the President has been defiant despite the expressed concerns from members of his own party and from his preferred media outlets, even tempting his own death when stating this past Friday evening, “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,’ I’d get out of the race.”

But then he told ABC interviewer George Stephanopoulos, “The Lord Almighty’s not coming down.”

Let’s not forget the choices voters will have when heading to the polls on November 5th. If Biden continues his campaign against Trump, we’ll have three options – the incumbent, the challenger, and not voting at all, and moderates and Independents who were thinking Biden would be the better choice likely will now leave all options empty to save themselves any blame for whatever may follow.

We know how the nation’s capital handles its inter-beltway secrets so, yes, we could learn Biden is indeed suffering from something more than cognitive decline, but until that time let’s first be kind to a fellow human being, and second, let’s pray his future decisions reflect what’s best for him, his family, his party, and for us, too.

Because a “bad day” in the White House could be a “bad day” for the world.
