The young Bulldogs at Bridgeport Elementary School are doing the district proud. On Nov. 15 the students were recognized with an awards assembly marking the first nine weeks of the school year. Each class was invited onto the cafetorium stage and students were commended for their progress.

Elementary School Principal Kamaron Sabinski introduced the kindergarten through fourth grade classes.

“Our entire elementary is full of amazing and incredible children,” she said. “They come here, and they work hard. They know what the expectations are, and they put it in every single day.”

She said the start of elementary school was a time for children to begin taking on responsibilities until they reach the fourth grade and are ready to enter middle school.

“All of us here at Bridgeport Elementary School are so proud of every single one of our students.”

A sizeable crowd of parents, guardians and family members attended, with young future elementary school students. Sabinski thanked them for coming, adding that a key to a student’s success was family support and encouragement at home, helping with homework, making certain it is complete, and reading together with their children.

“We cannot express our gratitude for that enough.”

Sabinski reminded parents that home room teachers are always open to communicate.

“If your kiddo is struggling in any way, contact that home room teacher. If you have a question pertaining to anything at any time, contact that home room teacher,” she said. “Please remember that communication is key.”

Teachers introduced students who had earned high scores and made the principal’s list. Students spoke about how they have taken to heart the lessons to be safe, kind and responsible. Other students were recognized as young leaders in the classroom.

Students were also commended for adapting to the district’s new reading curriculum adopted this school year, with changes to scheduling and assessments.

The district mascot Bruiser the Bulldog paid a visit to the assembly and elementary students could pose with him for pictures.
