Marshall County Deputy Involved in Crash

Sheriff Mike Dougherty of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office reports that one of his deputies was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Fish Creek Road near Greenfield Ridge.

Sheriff Dougherty advised that the deputy collided with another vehicle while responding to a domestic violence incident with his emergency warning systems activated. As a result of the collision, the deputy was flown by medical helicopter to WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown in serious condition.

The driver of the second vehicle (a pick-up truck) was assessed at the scene by Marshall County EMS and was released.

The West Virginia State Police are handling the crash investigation; more details will be released as they become available.
