City Manager Rick Healy issued this Press Release this morning:
The City of Moundsville is excited to announce that at their June 3, 2025, meeting, Council approved the purchase of three properties located in the Historic Business District on Jefferson Avenue. Properties that were recently razed after a devastating fire include 201, 227, and 229 Jefferson Avenue and total .55 acres.
The price of the purchase was $302,500, according to Healy.
The purchase of this prime real estate in the heart of the business district will allow the city to work with interested parties and bring the perfect type of development to the historic downtown area. With the recent addition of On Trac to the district, the future looks bright for this area, with many changes taking place. This is another piece to the puzzle that the city believes is a perfect fit.
City Manager Rick Healy commented “Vice-Mayor Sara Wood-Shaw brought this idea to Council, and it was passed by Council. The change to Jefferson Avenue is beginning to take place, with multiple properties changing hands recently and in the near future. We believe this is another step in the right direction.
We are beyond excited that Council has taken this progressive step and cannot wait to entertain options to benefit not only the residents, but the existing business, as well.”
