Statement from Most Rev. Mark Brennan, Bishop of Wheeling-Charleston on Ohio County Flash Flooding

“I ask you to join me in prayer for all those affected by the devastating flash flood that occurred on Saturday in Ohio County. We pray especially for those who lost their lives as well as those who are still missing. As our community mourns together, I am encouraged by those who have already come forward, including our diocesan employees, to assist in the relief efforts as well as the first responders who continue to assist the victims of this horrific event. I encourage all who are able to serve as the hands of Christ to assist our neighbors in need.

“Additionally, our Northern Panhandle parishes will be conducting a special collection to be held June 21-22 to assist the flood relief efforts coordinated by Catholic Charities West Virginia and affiliated Catholic agencies, such as the St. Vincent de Paul Society.”
