Sixth Death Confirmed, Names Released by Ohio County Chief Deputy

The chief deputy of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a sixth person was killed in the tragic flash flooding that took place Saturday evening in the Valley Grove and Triadelphia areas of the county.

Chief Deputy Kent Lewis addressed the media during a press conference at the Ohio County Courthouse in downtown Wheeling. He said two people remain missing and teams remain in active search mode.

Lewis released the names of the victims from Ohio and Marshall counties:

Michael Veronis, 74, Moundsville, WV

Lisa McMasters, 59, Triadelphia, WV

Michael Bokanovich, 73, Triadelphia, WV

Kyleigh Minch Shotton, 26, Triadelphia, WV

Parker Shotton, 3, Triadelphia, WV

Travis Creighton, 19, Triadelphia, WV

“This is a difficult time for everyone involved,” Lewis said. “To my knowledge, this is the largest mass casualty event in the history of Ohio County.”
