Shop Small, Honor Heroes: Wheeling Artisan Center Shops Partner to Support Local Veterans

WHEELING, W.Va. – June 25, 2025 – This July, shoppers can support small businesses and honor local veterans at the Wheeling Artisan Center, located at 1400 Main Street in downtown Wheeling.

The Wheeling Artisan Shop and Prodigal Daughter Treasures and Trinkets, Ltd.—both located on the first floor of the Wheeling Artisan Center—invite customers to “Shop with a Purpose.” Throughout the month, in-store shoppers can receive 15% off their purchase by donating $5 to Northern Panhandle Veterans Council (NPVC). This promotion is available in stores only.

All proceeds from the promotion benefit NPVC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering veterans and their families through support, resources, and community connections.

“The Northern Panhandle Veterans Council is dedicated to empowering veterans and their families with unwavering support, community and resources to thrive,” said Joel Nicholson, president of the Northern Panhandle Veterans Council. “We are honored to partner with Wheeling Heritage in our mission to serve our military veterans — Honoring Heroes, Preserving Heritage.”

“For more than two decades, the Wheeling Artisan Shop has showcased the work of West Virginia artisans,” said Scott Schenerlein, executive director of Wheeling Heritage. “This collaboration gives shoppers a meaningful way to support our veterans while celebrating local makers.”

The Wheeling Artisan Shop features handcrafted goods, artwork, jewelry, and specialty foods curated from across West Virginia and the Greater Wheeling Area. Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more at www.artisancenter.com.
