An Interactive and Fun Event for Children is set for August 2!
Touch-A-Truck is coming to the Highlands Sports Complex on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 11 am- 1 pm.
The event, hosted by Holy Family Child Care Center is free and open to the public. 10% of proceeds from the raffle and activity ticket sales will be donated to the Valley Grove Fire Department to assist with continued flood relief in our community.
Families can expect various vehicles to climb aboard and learn about including fire trucks, police cruisers, tow trucks, a rotator wrecker, excavators, tractors, a semi-truck, a trolley, a school bus, a Snow Cone truck, a bucket truck and more.
“We have all been there as little ones, filled with joy as we watch the police cruiser zoom by, hear the sirens of the fire truck, or see the workers operating heavy equipment. Children look up to those in our community who serve those around us, and this event allows them to see them outside of the everyday hustle so they can speak and high-five with them,” said Terra Crews, Executive Director of Holy Family Child Care Center.
Children can enjoy various activities including the sandbox dig zone, bouncy houses, face painting, traffic light toss and more! Activity and raffle prize tickets can be purchased on-site the day of the event or preordered at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/touch-a-truck-tickets-1461776144799
“The folks who show up to Touch A Truck and park are the same people who are on the front lines every day, ensuring our safety and well-being. They deserve recognition, and what better way than to have them all in one place, seeing the excitement they bring to children! With the recent devastation that has impacted our community, I hope that Touch A Truck brings a breather for everyone who is tirelessly working to rebuild our community. I hope that they see the vital role that they play in our lives and the true appreciation for all that they do,” said Crews.
Sponsors for the 2025 Touch-A-Truck event include Ohio County, the Highlands Sports Complex, Liberty Distributors, A-1 Braden’s Towing, Ohio Valley Regional Transportation Authority, Dirty Paws, Fitzsimmons Law Firm, West Virginia Northern Community College, Felton CPA, WVU Medicine-Wheeling Hospital, Bill’s Towing and the Kiwanis Club of Wheeling.
