WHEELING, W.Va. – July 23, 2025  Wheeling Heritage is inviting local artists to submit work for its upcoming Halloween-themed art show, Too Quiet in the Atrium, which will be on display at the Wheeling Artisan Center Gallery from Oct. 3 through Nov. 4.

The exhibit aims to capture “eerie elegance, odd nostalgia and the kind of unsettling charm that lingers,” and welcomes submissions that lean into the strange, spooky or simply offbeat. The deadline to submit artwork is Tuesday, Aug. 20. More information and submission details can be found at wheelingheritage.org/upcoming-exhibits.

An opening reception for the show will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Wheeling Artisan Center Gallery, located on the first floor at 1400 Main St. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Artists, consider this your summoning. Too Quiet in the Atrium is calling on all mediums—yes, even the psychic kind,” said Riley Carpenter, director of programming at Wheeling Heritage. “Whether you paint, sculpt, stitch, sketch or conjure with something else entirely, we want to see your most hauntingly creative work. Lean into the vintage Halloween theme, let your hands get a little haunted, and show us what you’ve got. We can’t wait to see what you raise from the depths of your imagination.”

Wheeling Heritage curates several art shows throughout the year as part of its mission to support local artists and contribute to the city of Wheeling’s vibrant art scene.
