“Twisters” to Blow into Heritage Port Friday

WHEELING, W.Va. – The City of Wheeling will host a free movie night at Heritage Port on Friday, Aug. 1, featuring the 2024 action thriller Twisters. The film will begin at dusk, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last. Admission is free.

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better. Twisters is rated PG-13.

“Heritage Port is a fantastic setting for a summer movie night, and Twisters is the kind of action-packed, crowd-pleasing film that makes it even more fun,” said Director of Parks & Recreation Rochelle Barry. “We love seeing the community come together for evenings like this,”

Prior to the movie, beginning at 6 p.m., WesBanco Arena will host First Friday on the patio featuring live music by Joey Adams. Enjoy Twister-themed drinks and a chance to win the movie’s soundtrack on vinyl, courtesy of Nail City Record.

No smoking is permitted by orders of the Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board. No pets are permitted in the seating area. All programs are subject to change without notice. In case of inclement weather, events may be relocated, rescheduled or cancelled.
