W.Va. Sen. Charlie Clements (R-2) announced his campaign for re-election this week at the West Virginia State Capitol.
A lifelong resident of West Virginia, Sen. Clements has represented the 2nd Senatorial District since 2017. He had previously served in the House of Delegates from 1995-1998.
“The State Senate must return its focus to economic development. We had a lot of momentum with job creation until the last year or so,” said Sen. Clements. “In addition to creating jobs, we have to improve our infrastructure, especially broadband and highways.”
Sen. Clements concluded by saying, “I will continue to work hard for the people of the 2nd District and am looking forward to serving the people of West Virginia for four more years.”
Sen. Clements has been a resident of New Martinsville, W.Va. for 55 years. He is a U.S. Army Veteran with two years on active duty and seven years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
The state senator was born in Huntington, earned a mathematics degree from West Virginia University, and he and his wife raised two children.
