WHEELING, W.Va., – Oct. 20, 2025 – Appalachian Power (APCo) crews in the Wheeling District are beginning a large, multi-part, overhead reliability project along Mil Acres Drive (CR 21) as part of ongoing efforts to improve electric reliability for its customers.

The project involves removing and replacing poles and installing new crossarms and equipment. The new infrastructure is designed to improve reliability and help reduce future power outages.

“Replacing older poles and hardware is a key part of maintaining a strong and dependable electric system,” said Kerry McKeever, manager of distribution systems. “These upgrades will help ensure safe, reliable service for customers in our community.”

Crews will work primarily during daylight hours, and traffic control will be in place as needed to protect the public and workers. The work is expected to continue through December, weather permitting.
