It’s gone. At least the bar side. Completely. No .. completely.
There’s a mini-freakin’ Bobcat in there, for goodness sakes.
Of course, no taxidermy, but also nothing else either. Not even the walls.
It’s all gone, and it has to be. Structural integrity, cleanliness, public safety, and, most importantly, starting fresh at a location that was a landmark for most of who were raised in the city of Wheeling. In fact, that first beer at 150 Carmel Road was a right of passage of sorts.
It is a gutting thus far in the bar and LVL rooms, the room where the pool tables rested, and a complete re-build has been started on the kitchen area, as well.
For decades, 50 Carmel Round was the home of Ye Olde Alpha until the Ohio County Health Department shut the place down because of wastewater issues. Prior to the closure, the property was auctioned for past-due taxes and purchased by Wheeling Coin.
