TOP STORIES of ’25 – For Generations to Come …

-

The bar business was not his destiny. At least he didn’t believe it was while he was being groomed to be a publisher in the newspaper business.

But Michael Duplaga III did what he had to do to save and reinvent the family’s business at the base of Wheeling Hill in Fulton, and today Generations Restaurant & Pub is a city staple and a regional destination.

Michael recently penned an article for LEDE News (link below) that explains his family’s decision to return to Wheeling and how it feels now, 26 years later. But, truth be told, there’s a story behind HIS story.

We initiated the project in late February hope to publish it before the end of April, but that didn’t happen because of his travel and my surgical schedule. Once we both survived those first obstacles, we established several more deadlines and editing sessions until we arrived to the “final draft” stage in early November with the intention of releasing it during the Thanksgiving holiday.

And that’s exactly what happened on November 30th to the surprise of not only his bride, Alyssa, but also to their five children – four of whom are directly involved with the eatery today.
