Aggravated Murder Suspect Arrested by Belmont County Sheriff’s Office

On July 31, 2026, deputies from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office responded to Buttermilk Road in Belmont, Ohio regarding a death investigation.

As a result of the initial investigation, one adult individual has been taken into custody in connection with this incident. Autum Stotelmyer, age 20, is currently being held at the Belmont County Jail. She is charged with one count of Aggravated Murder and her initial court appearances is pending.

Because this is an active, ongoing preliminary investigation, specific details regarding the identity of the victim, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being withheld currently to preserve investigative integrity and pending appropriate family notifications. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is on scene assisting the sheriff’s office.

There is no ongoing threat to the public related to this event. A press update containing additional details will be released on Monday, August 3, 2026.
