Fill your time at home with something other than endless Facebooking and non-stop news. Below are some fun science experiences you can enjoy at home. These aren’t just for kids! They let you travel, without leaving home, around to museums, zoos, and other places you probably wouldn’t have had time to experience otherwise.

Cosi Connects

Cosi in Columbus, Ohio is offering free science activities for families in their new online program Cosi Connects. Named Best Science Museum in the 2020 USA Today’s Readers Choice Award, Cosi has demonstrations, at-home activities, and contests available to keep you and your kids learning and having fun doing it. Find cool programming like How Many Snowflakes Make an Inch of Snow, Why Are Whales So Big?, or take a virtual tour

Access Mars

Access Mars is an explorable 3D map of the Martian surface as recorded by the Curiosity Rover. As you explore, you will learn about key points of interest such as the geology of Mars and whether it could have sustained life. Make sure to check out the latest Mars news with NASA

Panda Cam

Can it get much better than watching playful pandas at the Atlanta Zoo? The Panda Cam lets you watch these cuties in real-time. If you enjoy it, you can also support their panda fund and create a Pandagram! With zoos being closed right now because of the Coronavirus, they are losing key revenue as the weather warms up.

The Museum of Mines of Mercury

So this one is a bit different. With so many people in our area with ties to mining, I thought it would be interesting to check out the exhibits and mock-ups of the Museum of Mines of Mercury Amiata in Santa Fiora, Italy.

Undeniably Dairy

Find out what dairy farms are actually like with the virtual tour from Discovery Education. Find out the science and math used to help keep the animals healthy and get your milk to your refrigerator. Did you realize there are nutritionists on farms? Each Virtual Field Trip comes with a companion guide packed with standards-aligned and hands-on learning activities if you have kids at home.
