It was a quick first month, and we would like to thank our readers for visiting, sharing, and liking LEDE on social media. We are confident those numbers will grow, too, because we will hold true to our mission announced at the very beginning.
LEDE is about the real world here in the Upper Ohio Valley, and it is about the issues that exist and not created out of convenience, and the examples from our first month are plentiful. The $60 organic chicken, the traffic woes in all directions, the lives lost and remembered, and the present potential in this region that permits belief that population will once again grow … those are stories that have been told on LEDE but otherwise have gone uncovered.
Once the new year arrives, LEDE will launch its election coverage that will include articles concerning all levels of government and the important issues that exist for local voters. We will not adopt positions or offer endorsements of candidates because we possess our right to vote and so do our readers. LEDE will offer information, interviews with candidates and incumbents, and ask the public for their priorities when they visit the polls.
Residents of the Upper Valley want to witness growth in their communities, and they wish to elect men and women who they believe possess genuine intention to assist with accomplishing that goal. We also hope someday our children will have additional reasons to remain close to home when they are ready to begin their adult lives instead of departing for elsewhere.
We will vote for the people we believe can end the cycle of Rust Belt decline.
The reason why the tagline for LEDE News is, “Everyone Above The Fold” is that it is our belief no one deserves to be below it, and we believe our first month of operation proves just that. Again, thank you for your support, and please help us spread the word about the newest media outlet in the Upper Ohio Valley.
