A Sunday OPEN LETTER to … President Donald. J. Trump …

-

Mr. President:

We’re wondering if someone on your staff has completely dropped the ball the way the Secret Service did on you a year ago today in Butler, Pa., because you’ve not yet signed the federal emergency declaration for Ohio County, West Virginia. The millions of dollars’ worth of damage caused by the fatal flash flooding nearly one month ago, Mr. President, easily meets all criteria that green lights your signature, and your political opponents insist it’s been on your desk for days.

The federal funds will allow the impacted property owners to move forward with rebuilding their homes or rebuilding their lives somewhere away from these tiny, low-to-middle-income towns where flood insurance wasn’t mandated by the bank. Trailers and vehicles were washed away, homes were knocked off foundations, and the commercial and residential structures that survived must be scrubbed down to their bones.

Your signature sure could help, so, Mr. President, please sign the declaration.

Nothing, of course, can bring back the nine souls lost, including two people in their 80s, three in their 70s, and six others who were close to the ages of two of your sons, one of your daughters, and one Triadelphia family lost a mamma and her 3-year-old daughter.

A true tragedy, sir, so we’re hoping you choose to authorize federal assistance immediately.

Sincerely,

Make Four Electoral College Votes Great Again
