AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WWII VETERANS WHO WAVED AT AMERICA LAST NIGHT:

Thank you for participating in the Main Street Bank Fantasy of Lights Parade and thank you for waving at us. I know you heard us say, ‘THANK YOU!!” because you looked us in the eye and said the same.

But you thanking us? That’s puzzling. You thanked us.

For what? Thanking you? Who doesn’t thank you if they know what you helped preserve for us today?

You helped beat the bad guys, and that’s why the country’s Constitution still stands as the law of our land.

You left home only able to write letters when time allowed.

You lost “brothers” but managed to get out yourself … and there’s guilt there, we know.

And somehow you transitioned back into what they call, “normal life” before proper counseling was offered by the Veterans Administration.

What you saw, sir? What you had to do? The stories you will never tell?

No sir, thank you.

Sincerely,

A Grateful America
