AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT AND ALL FEDERAL LAWMAKERS:
Wanna know whom a lot of us didn’t give thanks for this past Thursday?
You. Y’all. All 536 of you. Collectively. One general sentiment and a big ol’ statement.
No. Thanks.
We gave thanks for family, our friends, the local businesses that support what we do for a living, the folks who continue to protect us on holidays, and for the volunteers at homeless shelters.
But not for you. Not for the far right, far left, and not even for the moderates at this point. We respect U.S. Rep. David McKinley and admire the battles he fights that impact his 1st Congressional District, but even he’s guilty of playing the games involved with party power.
“We The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
You’ve read that, and you know what it is. All y’all, but you ignore it far too often. Again, party power, and once your party gets some moxie, it’s abused. While the President and the Republicans communicate daily denigrating comments about Democrats, the Dems have a adopted a war they hope ends with a successful vote for impeachment in the U.S House.
Meanwhile? Infrastructure? Health care? Drug epidemic? School security? Hunger?
We’re not thankful for you because of the games y’all play with the deceptive omnibus bills, and we’re not thankful for you because of your participation in the separation game. Divide us, even if it forces family members to NOT talk. Works for you so, so what, right?
And we’re not thankful for you because there are zero signs it’s soon to change, and because that’s likely OK with you. One side has their side, and the other has theirs, and may the best dark-money propaganda create the largest voting group while you maintain the “I love America and my constituents” shtick.
Yeah, y’all, not thankful for that at all.
