To Whom It May Concern:

Sure, $1.7 million sounds like a ton of cash. If delivered in $100 bills, it might very well weigh an actual 2,000 pounds, too.

But now the deal is done. Now the crap on the corner will vanish. Now potential is no longer held hostage. And now, this property can allow for growth instead of frightening possible patrons away. The era of embarrassment soon will finally end, and for that, we are thankful.

Thank you to the crafters of the agreement. Thank you to those who stood strong against obnoxious adversity. And thank you to those who perpetually hold the City of Wheeling – and her residents – in high regard instead of whipping the town around like an old lady held for unreasonable ransom.

The purpose for the purchase is long-term economic impact, and we look forward to the time when 949 Main Street transforms into a draw for downtown businesses rather than the “ugly ain’t illegal” disaster it was permitted to become.

Sincerely,

The Gateway Grateful
