An OPEN LETTER to … Baker Mayfield …

Baker:

You got done dirty, dude.

If this would have happened after your final season at Oklahoma, we doubt anyone would have cared because, quite frankly, you appeared to be the second coming of Johnny Manziel because of your arrogance and undeserved bravado. You changed, though. Cooled your jets. Found some humility.

And the commercials you have acted in for Progressive Insurance have revealed you to be human, and likable… and pretty darn funny, too.

In four seasons, you compiled a 29-30 record with a 61.6 percent completion rate, and you’ve thrown 33 more touchdown passes than interceptions (92-56) while playing for a franchise known more for mistakes by the lake instead of winning a single Lombardi Trophy in more than half of a century.  Hell, you even defeated the Steelers twice in a row, one of which eliminated Pittsburgh from the 2020 postseason.

And this is what you get? Honestly, the only situation we see similar took place in September 2019 when former Pirates manager Clint Hurdle was terminated before the final regular-season game after being told he would return for his 10th year in 2020. Hurdle was done dirty after guiding Pittsburgh to the franchise’s first above-.500 record in 20 years and to the MLB postseason three consecutive seasons only to have his roster sold off and then be punished for ownership’s orders.

Dirty.

Sincerely,

The Browns Haters Club Welcome Wagon
