An OPEN LETTER to … Eugene Blake’s Parole Board …

Members of the Ohio Parole Board:

Keep him.

Yeah, yeah, we know, loophole. There was an omission. One. Word. “Full”.

Instead of following the killer’s course, how about you follow your collective conscience’s course.

Why?

1967. Donna Jean Ball.  On way home. Forced off the road. Stabbed to death. Blake found guilty.

Keep him.

1982. Mark Withers. Parking with a female companion. Shot to death. Female companion raped repeatedly before her escape. Blake found guilty, but not until 2010.

Keep him.

1984. Maryann Hope Helmbright, 13, of Wheeling. Blake reportedly took her out of a bar on Market Street, transported the female to Wheeling Island, where he shot her in the head, and then dumped her remains in the Morgantown area.

Keep him.

We in the Wheeling area, you see, are well educated on the monster who is Eugene Blake thanks to the brilliant reporting of Fred Connors, but what the journalist could not file were stories on the other crimes committed by this serial killer. That’s right; we can’t help but believe that a person can’t murder thrice without a fourth, a fifth, and maybe even a sixth taking place.

Keep him. Keep him. Keep him.

We don’t want him again, so don’t fail us – again. You keep him this time.

Sincerely,

The Innocent Ones
