An OPEN LETTER to … W.Va. Gov. Jim Justice:

You said what?

“I wanted (President Trump) to know just how welcome he is in West Virginia. And any president, you know, we should absolutely welcome all but — maybe not Barack Obama. Nevertheless, we’ll welcome any president.”

Gotta ask … how quickly did someone in your alleged brain trust say, “George Floyd” to you? Was it the first time you had heard his name? When you finally realized how twisted your little joke was, could you breathe?

Even within your walk-back the next day, you continued to play politics.

“President Obama as a person is welcome here. But President Obama’s war on coal is not welcome here.”

Ah yes, coal. The business you inherited from your father that reportedly has you in hot water and deep debt in three different states. $10 million here, $13 million there, and then there’s those pesky reclamation liabilities.

You sure you’re still a billionaire?

“I would surely hope and pray that anybody that knows me would know there’s not a racial bone in my body.”

But see, Governor, we don’t know you, and what we do know isn’t all that positive. Flip phone, swanky Greenbrier, refusal to reside in a mansion 50 steps from your office … ya know, little things like those tidbits.

And please know, Governor, we are not calling you out as a racist. Instead, we are calling you out for not recognizing the privilege you possess thanks to the color of your skin.

Sincerely,

People Living with the Epiphany
