An OPEN LETTER to … Mario Lemieux …

-

Mr. Lemieux:

This evening is Penguins Night at Wesbanco Arena as the Wheeling Nailers host the Fort Wayne Komets, the ECHL champions. The team will wear special jerseys, fans will get free rally towels when they enter the rink, and the legendary Stanley Cup will be in the house, as well.

The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. and we would like to invite you to return to Wheeling for a visit. It has been 22 years (January 14, 2000, for Mario Lemieux Night) since you last stepped foot into Wesbanco Arena, and we believe you’ll be impressed with the enhancements that have added to the exterior and interior of the building.

Plus, the food has greatly improved with a popular, local eatery operating in the restaurant/club area and several others serving up items like quesadillas, grilled chicken wraps, Italian hoagies, MMM Popcorn, and even Chick-fil-A.

Such a trip also would allow you to see all of the progress that’s been made in downtown Wheeling since your last visit, to get a preview of what’s to come, and for you to show your appreciation for the longest-tenured franchise in the ECHL.

Sincerely,

The Nailer Nation
