Dr. Miller:
Not many people see the snapshots of society you see on a daily basis, and perhaps that’s why it’s difficult for them to understand that free meals and consistent counseling have become imperative parts of the K-12 education system.
That’s because we’ve learned – and finally accepted as truth – that hungry kids don’t learn well, and neither do abused, neglected, and homeless children. For you, and for educators and staff everywhere, those facts are as real in the classroom as the ABCs and the 1-2-3s.
You’ve evolved along with sad and unfortunate societal changes that have been produced by a growing number of single-parent families, an ongoing drug epidemic, and by grandparents struggling to fill mother-father roles for their grandkids, and we’re very thankful for your dedication.
That’s one of many reasons why we would like to wish you congratulations for being named the Superintendent of the Year in West Virginia, and we wish you the best for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.
Sincerely,
We Appreciate You
