Happy anniversary!!
It’s been 30 years since you were our hero in 1994 after hauling in QB Chad Johnston’s pass with under a minute to play to beat the Pitt Panthers 47-41 in Pittsburgh. And what a miraculous, awesome ending it was.
We can still hear legendary broadcaster Jack Fleming … “He’s got it! He’s got it! TOUCHDOWN WEST VIRGINIA!”
And here we are now, Commissioner, three decades later and we’re still singing “Sweet Caroline” and “Country Roads” at the top of our lungs as damn proud Mountaineers getting prepared for yet another “Backyard Brawl.”
If we may, we ask you only one favor.
Please wear that #47 today, sir, and let’s sing us a little John Denver at Acrisure Stadium this afternoon.
