An OPEN LETTER to … Ohio County’s Lou Vargo …

-

Mr. Vargo:

We know the majority of your work as the director of the Ohio County Emergency Management Agency takes place behind the scenes, and we’re aware you do not like to be recognized, but we need to say thank you for what you’ve done for so many Ohio County residents.

We realize you’ll shed gratitude to many others, like your colleague Tony Campbell, the dispatchers in Ohio County’s 911 Center, the first responders from so many surrounding areas, the people who have donated goods, services, time, and money, and to the folks who have traveled here to do their wonderful work.

This Saturday morning, though, we’ll shine the “THANK YOU” spotlight on just you, your 35 years as a public servant, and your non-stop, drop-everything dedication to the folks in Valley Grove and Triadelphia – this time – and to residents in Ohio County and in the Northern Panhandle and in East Ohio.

Disasters happen, sure, and we all meet our maker some day, but Lou, we sure do appreciate it when we know you’re in the trenches doing everything you can to ensure our safety. This flash flood tragedy has reminded us how quickly life can change, and we know how lucky we are to have you on our side.

Sincerely,

Ohio County Strong
