An OPEN LETTER to … Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine …

You have heard it, but we’ll repeat it: “Covid-19 is no more contagious after 10 p.m. than it is from midnight to 9:59 p.m.”

We get it. You are removing people from situations where they could get infected, and 10 p.m. is usually the most crowded time; but at the same time, you defined bar owners and their patrons as dumbasses. Why? Simply because you’ve taken their decisions away from them, and that’s an infringement on their American rights.

But wait! A state of emergency status allows you to perform such atrocities, right? And, in the name of safety, you mandated that the backbone of Ohio to shutter at 10 p.m. because we’re too stupid to know better? To enforce state restrictions? To choose our own path? To live our lives as guaranteed by the United States Constitution to strive to live the American dream?

Yes, people get drunk, and most of the time they get friendly, but does that mean they want to die?

Please understand, sir, we are not discounting Covid-19 or the hundreds of thousands of positive cases, and we have mourned the deaths of nearly 9,000 Ohioans, too. But Mr. Governor, we now know how to live within this pandemic, and if some citizens do not, or refuse to practice precautions, there still are the other 17 hours per day during which people can snort the germ.

Are we not at the point where if a person gets sick with Covid-19, it’s on them and their decisions?

Sincerely,

The Empire within the Empire
