Festival Organizers:

Tell us now.

Is there a chance your event could dissolve into happy memories? Is it because of a lack of help? We have watched as other festivals have simply, silently not taken place, and we’ve missed the tribute bands, the unique vendors, and even the chicken on the stick.

After so many years, Wheeling’s festival season is what we’ve come to know, so when there’s an open weekend at Heritage Port, it’s not only odd but concerning. It’s our time outside, and some may count those strolls up and down Water Street as a part of their exercise regimen. Seriously, who hasn’t heard someone say, “I gotta get my steps in” as they begin yet another trip to the beer line?

When a festival fades, though, it weakens the overall economic impact of the season and that means fewer folks are staying in hotels, eating in our restaurants, and purchasing other goods and services. And since the majority of those riverfront events support local non-profits, it means fewer people are getting the help they desperately need.

So, tell us now. And ask us now. For next year.

Sincerely,

“STAFF”
