Dear Mr. President:

We are surprised you lost, too, but most of us live in the Upper Ohio Valley where the coal and natural gas industries are important employers as it applies to the rest of the local economy. So, yeah, we were a bit bias because we’ve lived along a polluted river for years, and we seldom asked about contents of the smoke coming from the stacks that employed our family and friends,

So, bring it on.

We’ve supported your legal battles in the states where the counts were so very close, we were disappointed by the recounts, too, and we have held hope every time a right-wing source publishes a possibility of anything that could change the results of this election.

But here we are.

See, we’re not devoted “Trumpers” who have excused the majority of your tweets, looked the other way on accusations, or appreciated the nicknames, the personal denigration of others with whom you disagreed, or the odd inappropriateness you employed with foreign relations, adn yet, you still got our votes.

Why?

We are voters who cast ballots in favor of an improved economy so our retirement accounts have a chance to continue catching up from the Great Recession so maybe we can retire by, say, 75 years old. That’s the hope, anyway, but we won’t know how to move forward with our plans until the COVID-19 vaccine reaches the public, and until you officially concede.

Your future? Shoot, a best-selling book likely will be first, and then some sort of reality TV show certainly will follow. Plus, let’s face it, your speech tour will be international, and you’ll make millions just as the Clintons and the Bushes have since they respectfully left the White House.

That is the way it’s supposed to work to be sure to put American first, right?

Plainly, it’s time, Mr. President, so we know how to make our America great again.

Sincerely,

The Country’s Common Folk
