Dear Roxby Group:

The folks who wish to see downtown Wheeling reach its new potential, thank you.

The purchase of the McLure Hotel on the corner of 12th and Market streets is capturing the heart of downtown Wheeling that has been struggling for far too long. Once upon a time ago, a thriving McLure joined Thom Mcan shoe store, Elby’s Family Restaurant, and McDonald’s to become the most popular intersection in the entire state of West Virginia.

The fact that is the exact goal everyone with Roxby has us excited. So many U.S. Presidents and their first ladies, and so many celebrities have chosen the McLure through the years and that is a testament to the status of the historical property. It must be saved for the good of the future of the city of Wheeling, and it will be enjoyable to observe that process.

As soon as any local resident hears of this purchase and plan, they will say, “Thank God,” and, “It’s about time.”

We can’t wait to watch.

Sincerely,

Fans of Wheeling’s Future
