Friend:
You sure had your ways …
You always did everything you possibly could do just so you didn’t have to say “No” to someone, and if you could help even more than you were asked, you found ways to do just that. And there was always time – even when there wasn’t – for you to explain something because you knew someone needed to know the answer to the questions they asked you.
You searched for and enjoyed conversation with anyone who said “Hi” or “Bye”, and when you came across a miscellaneous tidbit of information – even if it was only a single fact – you made sure you mentally held onto it until you could share it with the person you kept it for.
Remember Halloween 2017 when you portrayed the late Heath Ledger’s “Joker” from “The Dark Knight”? You scared the holy hell out of everyone who saw you in character because your all-around authenticity was goose-bump horrifying (Bravo!!), and, man, your brilliance behind the curtain will never be replicated.
You were never happy that people thought your hometown was right off Interstate 79 where “those outlet stores” were because, “Damnit”, you grew up about 20 minutes away in a community you were always proud of. And you never seemed to mind that most folks had more fun with your Leap Year Birthday than you ever did.
When you really wanted someone to realize how genuinely sincere you were being when complimenting them – and not just goofing around with friends as always – you somehow slowed the world and would say, “No, really, I mean that” … and damn, those moments meant so much.
You loved joy, and you preferred to be concise and exact because that’s what it took to be God-darn great at your craft, and you figured it, fixed it, explained it, and repeated it over and over and over again.
Only you had that laugh, and your $hit-eatin’ grin, and your loyalty, and your love. You were pure and powerful.
We miss you.
