An Open Letter To Those Who Have Refused:

The vaccines have been offered free of charge, and they have been readily available in each of the counties in the Upper Ohio Valley. Retired nurses and doctors volunteered to administer the inoculations, and thousands got in line and received their two doses. But thousands of others have refused it for whatever reasons you have. For the most part, to this point, vaccinations have been a personal choice, but the mandates have been mounting for the past week or so.

In several areas, mask mandates have also been issued for indoor activities, too, and, according to the current increase across the country, the requirement to enter businesses is going to spread in the names of science and safety. Want to go into a McDonald’s for a Big Mac? Wear a mask.

The reasons why you decided to reject the notion of a vaccine has to be the same, right? You don’t know the science, and you feel as if you are safe already, right? You feel your health is strong enough that you would survive a bout with Covid-19, right? Doesn’t really matter whom you may have infected while asymptomatic and contagious, right?

Our only other guess is that you believe the virus is fake, and that people are not dying from it. We hear, “Well, they had diabetes, so …” Just doesn’t seem to matter a person can live a long life with diabetes as long as they responsibly manage their sugar levels and that Covid causes complications. Nope. The virus is fake.

That’s our final hypothesis because your reasoning cannot be based on politics. The former president, Donald Trump, was our commander in chief during the development and the distribution of the vaccines, and he promoted getting vaccinated. In fact, he and his family were vaccinated, so, no, your decision can’t be based on politics.

The country will not shut down again because we, the people, have been given the chance to defeat this coronavirus, and that is why all of us should prepare ourselves for the “Blame Game” because it seems inevitable at this point. The vaccinated will point fingers at you, and you, in return, will mutter things like, “I’m no sheep, and I’m not going to be herded. It’s a free country!”

How do we know? Because it is already, ever-so-quietly, taking place as the numbers spike for the fourth time since this pandemic began 17 months ago. That is why free speech soon will be brutal on social media and during podcasts nationwide as the debate causes yet another division among the people of the United States.

Because that’s what Americans need right now, right?

Sincerely,

Vaccinated for the Common Good
