Dear R. Gregory McDermott, Eugene T. Fahey, David H. Mc Kinley, Justin Seibert, and Joan Stamp:

New Orleans, Chicago, White Sulphur Spring, Colorado Springs, and a number of other very high-end destinations like the Big Cedar Lodge, The Equestrian Hotel, and the Omni Mount Washington all were in the Top 10, but Wheeling, too?

Yes, Wheeling, too. Oglebay Resort, in fact. Wilson Lodge, to be exact. Number one. THE best hotel in the United States for a festival holiday getaway.

And the report included words like “enchanting” and “dazzling” and “magic” and the last line of the USA TODAY 10Best review reads: “There will be no ‘Scrooges’ in your group after staying at this festive resort.”

Bravo! To the five of you for the leadership, to the management and staff for the execution, and to the supporters who voted for the city’s no-snow-needed winter wonderful. It all began 40 years ago with the Festival of Lights, and all of the tweaks and additions since have allowed Wilson Lodge – and everything that surrounds it – to earn its rightful acclaim.

Sincerely,

Your Lucky Neighbors
