Dear, Those Still Taking a Chance:

It was the darkest of darkness. It was blacker than black. There was no glow from a clock or even from a DVR player, and it was difficult to see your own hand. It was the kind of darkness that made you lonely even when surrounded by screaming, scared children who heard that vicious “TRAIN” violently roll by.

And it wouldn’t go away.

Maybe you had something somewhere, right? Maybe those birthday candles that Junior blew out almost immediately, or that flashlight … THAT FLASHLIGHT!! Where is that DAMN flashlight!

The neighborhood was pitch black, too, wasn’t it? And silent. A creepy almost impossible silence.

And there was one night, and then a second night, and for some a third and a fourth, and maybe even a week of unlit existence. HELLO?!? Ugh, the phone was dead, and the work-from-home computer still didn’t work either … and neither does the stovetop or the oven or the microwave. The microwave?

The microwave? Shoot, all those frozen dinners thawed and were ruined anyway!

So, have you at least purchased more candles?

Sincerely,

Shining a Light on Reality
