An OPEN LETTER to … U.S. Rep. Alex Mooney …

-

Congressman Mooney:

Whether or not you are found culpable of the allegations against you in this federal ethics investigation remains to be seen, but what we do know is that you are guilty of lying about U.S. Rep. David McKinley during this congressional campaign.

You have called him a “RHINO,” or a “Republican in Name Only,” when, at the time you were 9 years old in 1980 and growing up in Frederick, Md., McKinley was a GOP member of the W.Va. House of Delegates.

Rep. Mooney, you have repeatedly called McKinley a “liberal” because he voted in favor of a $1 trillion infrastructure that would supply more than $3 billion to improve roadways and broadband that received a D grade by the American Society of Civil Engineers. In Marshall County (you know where that is, right?) alone, there are more than 700 secondary roadway slips – many of which carry students on school buses – that needed repairs yesterday.

Roadways are much better in the Eastern Panhandle, huh?

You also were “awarded” an endorsement from former President Donald Trump because Rep. McKinley voted in favor of the Jan. 6 Commission to investigate what led to the riots that erupted at the U.S. Capitol nearly 16 months ago, but we’ve heard nothing about the fact McKinley’s Trump-agenda voting record was far more consistent than your own.

You voted against the wall, for crying out loud.

McKinley is pro-gun, anti-abortion, pro-coal, anti-pork, and pure Republican, and since first elected in 2010, he has traveled consistently to all corners of the 20 counties in the 1st Congressional District to ensure all constituents (yes, even Democrats!) received true representation.

That’s why no matter the results come Tuesday night, David McKinley has been a “congressman’s congressman” representing not only fellow conservatives but all West Virginians in all the right ways for all the right reasons.

Sincerely,

Those Not Easily Fooled
