Dear Hall of Fame Board – Chairman Robert DeFrancis, Vice-Chair Jeanne Finstein, Secretary-Treasurer Philip Stahl, F. Wayne Barte, Dick Coury, Rev. Darrell W. Cummings, Ben Exley IV, George Frazier, Jay Frey; Jon-Erik Gilot, David Javersak, Charles J. Kaiser, Kim McCluskey, Kelly Rine, Council Representative Jerry Sklavounakis, Dianna Vargo, Chris Villamagna, Rev. Bob Willits and Maureen Zambito:

Your 10 selections are absolutely deserving of the honor you have bestowed upon them, but once again this Board has neglected to recognize the contributions made by broadcasting legend George Kellas. He was ESPN on TV before ESPN on TV existed; when covering high school sports, he cared more about the kids than he did about himself; and he founded a community radio station in 2004 because the community needed it after the corporate takeover of AM 1170 WWVA.

George read to kids. George supported all local businesses. George celebrated you, us, and anyone who lives in this Valley. The best part? He did it for you, not for himself. Why else would he remain on the air for 24 hours attempting to get you home during the flash flooding on Sept. 17, 2004? You listened, and you appreciated him then, now didn’t you?

Please realize this letter is not intended to detract from honoring the 10 individuals you have listed on the induction list. We just feel the list should have included 11 individuals.

Sincerely,

The Kellas Crazies
