Chairman Holstein:
It is our belief, as members of the state’s “Independent” and “Unaffiliated” parties, that the state Republican Committee is making a mistake by excluding us from voting in your party’s 2026 Primary on May 12, 2026.
In 2024, there were about 485,000 Republicans, 354,000 Democrats, and almost 300,000 registered no-party voters in the Mountain State, and that means we can help you win or cause your party to lose federal and state races. If you disenfranchise us by banning us from your ballot, you will lose votes in November because we will be unfamiliar with your incumbents and candidates.
You see, Mr. Chairman, the primary reasons we’ve refused to assign ourselves a particular party affiliation are because, one, we believe anyone can have a great idea, and also because we’ve realized no one mindset is the best fit for every problematic scenario faced by any level of government in today’s very small world.
We vote for the humans we believe will keep the first-responder agencies responding when we need them, and will maintain and improve basic infrastructure, add amenities as tax revenues allow, and concentrate their efforts on improving the quality of life for the folks within the boundaries of their respective district. When we have chosen to participate in the GOP Primary, it’s because we believed there were Republicans who were best for the jobs and we wanted to support them.
That’s the way it’s designed to work, so that’s how it should work, but a vote taken previous to your appointment (congratulations, by the way) has us blocked. We hope you agree with us and will work to repeal the policy so supporters can support.
Sincerely,
You. Need. Us.
