Situation
Appalachian Power is moving more than 330 storm restoration workers from its Virginia service area into parts of West Virginia where damaging ice accumulation could occur tonight into Friday.
Weather
Areas along West Virginia’s border with Kentucky and Ohio could see freezing rain and ice accumulation from one-quarter to one-half inch, with lesser amounts in other parts of the state. Travel and work conditions will be difficult.
Storm Preparation Efforts
Around 40 workers arrived last night in Wheeling, where severe weather is forecast to begin this evening. Nearly 300 additional workers are traveling this afternoon to Charleston and Huntington, and will be in place in advance of the freezing weather.
If the storm brings significant outages another team of workers from Virginia will be packed and prepared to join the restoration effort.
