Announces 55-County Tour to Take His Case Directly to the People
CHARLESTON, WV — West Virginia attorney and House of Delegates member Bill Flanigan today announced his campaign for the West Virginia Supreme Court, launching with a 55-county tour to meet voters across the state and make his case for restoring confidence in the judiciary.
Flanigan said the campaign will focus on one central message: the Constitution comes first — not politics.
“For too long, West Virginians have watched powerful interests and political insiders try to influence the courts,” Flanigan said. “Our Supreme Court should answer to the Constitution and the people of West Virginia, not the political class.”
To begin the campaign, Flanigan will embark on a statewide 55-county tour, traveling to communities across West Virginia to meet voters face-to-face and hear directly from the people affected by decisions made in the courts.
“I’m not running a campaign from Charleston,” Flanigan said. “I’m taking this campaign to the people of West Virginia — every county, every community — because the Supreme Court belongs to them.”
Flanigan, a longtime West Virginia attorney, said judges must apply the law as written and resist pressure from political movements or special interests.
“Judges don’t make the law. They apply it,” Flanigan said. “The moment judges start chasing politics instead of the Constitution, the rule of law begins to break down.”
Flanigan said his campaign will focus on restoring public confidence in the judiciary by emphasizing three core principles:
- The Constitution must come first.
- Judges must apply the law as written.
- The courts must serve the people — not political insiders.
The 55-county tour will begin in the coming days, with stops planned across the state.
“West Virginians deserve a Supreme Court they can trust,” Flanigan said. “That trust starts with judges who remember who they work for.”
