Celtic Events Scheduled this Weekend in Downtown Wheeling

Downtown Wheeling will be rocking with Celtic activities on Saturday, March 2nd.

The activities surround Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick’s Day Tour concert featuring Pennywise and The Scratch taking place at WesBanco Arena. Before the concert, Celtic activities will be happening at multiple venues around Downtown Wheeling for fans to enjoy. 

Dropkick Murphys annual St. Patrick’s Day trek kicked off February 13 in San Jose, California and runs through the always-sold-out Boston hometown run of dates (March 14-17) culminating on St. Patrick’s Day. The tour will touch down in Wheeling, WV at WesBanco Arena on Saturday, March 2nd. In addition to Dropkick Murphys, the concert features punk legends Pennywise as special guests, with hotly-tipped Dublin rock band The Scratch opening the show. 

Pittsburgh-based rockers Bastard Bearded Irishmen will be performing a pre-party at Waterfront Hall from 4-6 p.m.. The pre-show party at Waterfront Hall will also feature Jive Daisy from 12-3 p.m. There is a five-dollar cover charge for Bastard Bearded Irishmen and no cover for Jive Daisy.

The 28th Annual Wheeling Celtic Celebration will be held at the Wheeling Artisan Center. The event will feature Celtic Food and a Celtic Marketplace. Additionally, music from Abbots Cross, Gage Joseph, Art & Ben, and the MacDonald Pipe Band will be featured. Admission is $10 for adults and just $5 for children twelve and under. 

Finally, fans can come early to WesBanco Arena beginning at 3 p.m. for food and drinks at Heritage Port. Green Beer, craft & domestic Irish ales, and more will be available.
