City of Wheeling Transitioning Council Meeting Video from Facebook to YouTube for Improved Quality

-

WHEELING, W.Va. – To enhance the video and sound quality of City Council meetings, the City of Wheeling will transition its video stream from Facebook to YouTube, beginning with the March 20 council meeting.

Following each meeting, the recorded video will be available on the City of Wheeling’s YouTube channel: YouTube.com/@CityofWheelingWestVirginia. Additionally, a link to the video will be posted on the City’s website at https://www.wheelingwv.gov/departments/CityCouncil/2024-2025-agendasminutes and the City’s Facebook page at facebook.com/WheelingWV.

“In recent months, the public has expressed concerns about the video quality of council meetings on Facebook, particularly the audio. To address this issue, we are moving to YouTube, which provides a significantly better viewing experience,” said Mayor Denny Magruder.

The transition to YouTube also ensures greater accessibility, as viewers will no longer need an account to watch the meetings—unlike Facebook, which requires an account to access the City’s page.

Wheeling City Council meetings take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month in Council Chambers on the first floor of the City-County Building, 1500 Chapline Street. Meetings are open to the public. Please note this month’s second meeting will be held at 12:15 p.m., Thursday, March 20 rather than Tuesday, March 18 due to City Council members attendance at the Municipal League Conference in Charleston.

Those wishing to address Council during the “Those Wishing to Be Heard” segment must sign up at least 15 minutes before the meeting. Sign-ups can be done in person by signing the sheet inside Council Chambers or in advance by contacting the City Clerk at (304) 234-6401 or via email at jessica.zalenski@wheelingwv.gov.
